Deliverance – This is an outstanding re-creation of the Dickey novel of 4 Atlanta businessmen who get more than they can handle throughout a weekend canoe trip. McKinney and Coward are two of the most horrifying film scoundrels in history. The “Dueling Banjos” scene is very memorable. Film debuts of Beatty and Cox. James Dickey adjusted his own novel, and appears in the film as a sheriff. Ed O’Neill appears as a freeway watcher near end of film. Heartland Reggae – Shoddy documentary of ‘78 show remembering a visit to Jamaica by Haile Selassie. The music makes it worth watching. Cast includes Bob Marley and the Wailers, Peter Tosh, and Althea and Donna.
Laws of Attraction – N.Y.C. divorce attorney Moore has never lost a case but meets her match in cunning protesting attorney Brosnan, who as well manages to get her to let her guard down. Romantic comedy on no account nears the bulls eye, however showcases Brosnan’s laid back charm and gives Moore a rare comedic possibility.
